Petropolis, located 68km out of Rio, is also known as The Imperial City of Brasil as it is home to the former Summer Palace of the second Brasilian Emperor, which is now the Imperial Museum. It is a beautiful Colonial town with a very different feel to Rio. Between 1894-1902 it was the official capital of the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Then onto lunch and meeting up with my sister Patt, who lives in this city, plus shopping, which Petropolis has a good reputation for amongst Brasilians
