Time to explore Rio.. And what better way to spend my birthday than climbing Corcovado and at Copacabana 😉

The day started negotiating the buses and squeezing through the turnstiles. In Brasil, you need to keep an eye out for your bus and flag it down or it will just drive straight past your bus stop. You get on the bus at the front and pay the person sitting near the turnstile who will then let you pass. Good system 🙂 no waiting to pay the driver- they can get on with their job of driving (usually like maniacs so you get a free roller coaster ride too for your 3 Reais lol )

Onto Parque Lage ready meet our tour guide, Jungleboy Brasil, otherwise known as Alberto, and then a hike up Corcovado. It took us 1.5hrs and we certainly got a bit out of breath at some stages..

Yep, we’re going up there!

Christ the Redeemer is 30 metres tall plus an 8 metre tall pedestal. His arms stretch 28 metres wide 🙂
