My bus picked me up 1.5 hours late from my hotel in Hoi An which panicked me a bit, but I finally arrived in Hue to pouring rain! The Tuk Tuk drivers swarmed the bus as usual, but one of them must have bribed the driver because before we were even allowed off one of them came on the bus questioning us where we were staying and offering us a lift to a hotel. I walked through the rain and went to the main backpacker district. The first hotel said $12, so I went to the next. $12 too, but the 3rd hotel I stopped and asked at was $10 and it was a beautiful big room!
I walked to Mandarin Cafe as I had read many reviews about it on the internet, and not to be disappointed either. Mr Cu happily showed me his amazing photographs.
As I was walking around town, a cyclo stopped me. In the end, I paid him $5 for one hour to show me around. It’s funny that at first I thought $5 was so expensive to pay him, but putting it into perspective for me, I get to see sights and make the most of this city for a measly $5, same as I would happily pay for a Starbucks coffee which certainly won’t pedal me around for an hour..
And more pictures of Hue..
