Two other travellers and I (Rebecca and Natalia) decided to check out the markets while we waited for our bus transfer for $1 each on a Tuk tuk with a guy riding a bike.. I bought conditioner that I badly needed, however the bottle was only a third full lol
- Rebecca and I. We made friends on the ferry 🙂
- This guy did a good job pedalling 🙂
Finally at 3pm a mini bus came to collect us and we were all separated our different ways. I got dropped off at a large bus station and put on a big bus at 4:15 to Ho Chi Minh. At one stage, the bus drove onto a large ferry and we were transported across a river. It was so surreal. We had a rest stop half way. Don’t forget to take down your bus no. I was so scared of missing mine, but when the time came, and my bus pulled up, 3 people from my same bus all gestured to me to get on. I must have stood out being the only foreign looking person on the bus and they had been looking out for me. Awww… My first introduction to Vietnamese and I was in love! What sweet people. I felt humbled by their consideration and care ❤

- Our bus on the ferry. Really weird for a bus to hitchhike on a ferry..

I then met this lovely Vietnamese girl on the bus who was returning from her hometown and she shared her traditional Vietnamese handmade food! This was amazing!

Delicious!! She had handmade it and from her description I think it took hours. I was so appreciative of gesture of hospitality as a welcome to her country.
I got off late at night in the pouring rain and nearly got scammed by a mini van lady who told me she was there to pick me up until the Vietnamese girl I had made friends with on the bus rescued me and we shared a taxi to Pham Ngu Lao Street.
I had no accommodation booked but dove into the first backpackers on the street and was soon nice and comfy in a dorm. Then of course, went to the bar next door to down a beer or two after such a long day!
- This guesthouse was great!
- Nice bar next door right on the corner. Great for people watching!
- And a perfect finish to the day! Cheers!!
